Baku:Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has emphasized that Iran's defense capabilities and diplomatic efforts are essential for safeguarding the nation's independence, sovereignty, and interests. He highlighted the importance of ongoing coordination between the foreign and defense ministries in achieving these objectives.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi made these remarks while congratulating Mehrdad Akhlaghi Ketabchi on his new role as Iran's minister of defense, following his approval by parliament.

Araghchi expressed confidence that Akhlaghi's technical expertise and managerial experience in the defense sector would enhance Iran's progress and optimize the use of national resources in fulfilling the ministry's duties.

He reiterated that both defense capabilities and diplomatic efforts are vital, each within its domain, to protect Iran's independence and national interests. Araghchi also affirmed the Foreign Ministry's dedication to working closely with the Ministry of Defense to ensure the country's security and interests.
