Iran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Thursday that US President Donald Trump's newly announced "Economic D-Day" campaign against Tehran would bring Washington "further defeat" and deepen hostility among Iranians towards the US.

According to TRTworld.com, Araghchi remarked that the "Economic D-Day" initiative is an attempt to divert attention from America's own financial challenges, including unprecedented debt and rising interest rates. He expressed that doubling down on these policies would result only in further defeat and increased enmity from Iranians towards the US. Araghchi also mentioned that what he referred to as US "economic terrorism" poses a threat to the global economy and the sovereignty of nations worldwide.

These comments followed President Trump's announcement on Wednesday of what he described as "the most crushing economic operation ever taken against any country." Trump labeled the initiative as "Economic Warfare and Isolation on an unprecedented scale." The US President warned that Washington would aim to sever financial and commercial channels supporting Tehran and cautioned countries against providing Iran with an economic "lifeline," threatening severe economic repercussions for those who do. Trump also called upon US allies to join Washington in isolating Iran through this campaign.
