Iran’s Gilan Province Highlights Cultural and Culinary Strengths at Armenian Festival

Sisian: Gilan Province showcased its cultural, culinary, and economic potential at the fifth edition of the Navasard Armenian-Iranian Cultural and Culinary Festival held on August 10 and 11 in the Armenian town of Sisian, a provincial official has said.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Younes Ranjkesh, director general for investment and employment affairs at the Gilan Governorate, stated on Monday that the two-day festival offered an opportunity for Gilan to introduce its products and capabilities to the Armenian market. He indicated that the festival could serve as a model for similar events in other neighboring countries.

Initiated by Iran's embassy in Armenia, the festival featured exhibitions, a cooking competition, and cultural programs. Ranjkesh noted that 45 artists and traders from Gilan participated, showcasing food products, handicrafts, and other local goods.

A chef representing Rasht Municipality secured first place and a gold medal in the cooking competition. Folk music and traditional performances by Gilan's Deylamoon group also captured attention, as mentioned by the local official.

Additionally, a sister-city agreement was signed between Lahijan in Gilan and Sisian to promote cultural, tourism, and economic cooperation, Ranjkesh added.
