Bratislava: Iran's Abolfazl Mohammadnejad captured the gold medal in the 125kg freestyle category at the 2026 Junior World Wrestling Championships, which concluded Sunday in Bratislava, Slovakia. The competition wrapped up with the finals and classification bouts in the 125kg weight class.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Mohammadnejad, who received a bye in the first round, dominated his opening match in the second round, defeating his opponent from Russia by a 10-0 technical fall. He continued his impressive run in the quarter-finals with another commanding 11-0 victory over his Ukrainian challenger.

In the semi-finals, the Iranian wrestler overcame his competitor from Armenia with a 9-3 decision to secure his spot in the gold-medal match. Sina Khalili was Iran's other gold medalist, having claimed the 70kg title. Abolfazl Rahmani earned a silver medal in the 92kg category, while Ahura Khateri took bronze in the 61kg division.
