Hanoi: Akbar Ghasemi, the new ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Vietnam, presented his credentials to President To Lam on Monday. During this significant diplomatic event, both parties expressed a mutual desire to enhance the relationship between their nations.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Vietnamese president, To Lam, highlighted Iran's rich civilization and history during his meeting with Ambassador Ghasemi. He emphasized the importance of strengthening economic ties as a cornerstone of their bilateral relations, while also advocating for the development of cultural, educational, and tourism collaborations. President To Lam referenced his 2023 visit to Iran as a pivotal moment that opened a new chapter in the relationship between the two countries. He reiterated Hanoi's readiness to deepen cooperation across various fields.

President To Lam also acknowledged the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States, expressing optimism that it would contribute to greater global stability and peace. This memorandum is seen as a positive step toward resolving longstanding regional issues.

Ambassador Ghasemi, on his part, highlighted the diverse capacities and extensive capabilities of both Iran and Vietnam. He pointed out that recent geopolitical and strategic developments have significantly elevated Iran's position, thereby doubling the potential for collaboration between Tehran and Hanoi across all sectors. Ghasemi assured that Iran is eager to expand cooperation with Vietnam in political, economic, parliamentary, commercial, technological, tourism, and cultural areas.
