Iran’s Resilience Shifts Enemy’s Stance from ‘Surrender’ to ‘Ceasefire’, FM Araghchi States

Hamedan: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has commended Iran’s resilience during a recent 12-day conflict with US-Israeli forces, asserting that Iran’s strength compelled the adversaries to reconsider their initial demand for ‘unconditional surrender’ and instead seek an ‘unconditional ceasefire.’

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi addressed a gathering in Hamedan, highlighting Iran’s fortified position post-conflict. He remarked on the valuable lessons learned from the 12-day war in June, noting the nation’s enhanced confidence in its domestic capabilities as a pivotal factor leading to their perceived victory. Araghchi expressed that Iran is now more robust than before as it continues on its strategic path.

The Foreign Minister also paid homage to the nuclear scientists who were tragically assassinated, acknowledging their sacrifices and honoring their memories. He described the conflict as a technological battle, emphasizing the unique nature of the war, which was conducted without a shared border, made feasible through advanced technology. Araghchi pointed out that Iran’s defense and missile industries played a crucial role, with Iran’s missiles effectively controlling the adversary’s airspace despite the multi-layered air defenses bolstered by US and European support.

Araghchi elaborated on the significance of the conflict as a real-world test for Iran’s missile capabilities, revealing both strengths and areas for improvement. He stated that Iran is in a more advantageous position today compared to June 13, post-conflict.

He concluded with an explanation of the shift in demands from the opposition, highlighting how initial calls for ‘unconditional surrender’ transitioned to a plea for ‘unconditional ceasefire’ by the twelfth day of the conflict. Araghchi reiterated Iran’s steadfast defense and the insistence on halting aggression as key elements in the resolution of the conflict.
