Iran, Pakistan Focus on Enhancing Economic and Trade Ties, Says Ghalibaf

Islamabad: Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf affirmed that strengthening economic relations and boosting trade volume between Tehran and Islamabad are top priorities for both nations. Ghalibaf articulated these priorities in a meeting with Ayaz Sadiq, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, during his Thursday visit to Islamabad.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ghalibaf expressed gratitude to the people of Pakistan for their support of Iran against Zionist regime aggressions, highlighting the deep and friendly relations shared by the two countries. He emphasized that the solidarity shown during challenging times is a testament to the robust relationship between Tehran and Islamabad, with hopes that his visit would further bolster ties, especially between their legislative bodies.

Ghalibaf underscored the mutual interests that Iran and Pakistan share, which provide a platform for cooperation against common adversaries. “Iran and Pakistan have numerous common interests that enable them to cooperate against the greed of the Zionist regime and its supporters. We can work together on many political, economic, and cultural matters, and we aim to deepen these relations during this visit,” he stated. He also pointed out the significance of enhancing economic relations, stating that expanding economic ties and increasing trade exchanges are key objectives of his visit.

Ayaz Sadiq, in his remarks, acknowledged the Pakistani Parliament’s condemnation of the Zionist regime’s attacks on Iran, noting that Israel is perceived as a common enemy by both Iran and Pakistan.

During his visit, Ghalibaf also engaged in discussions with Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, the Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan and Acting President of Pakistan. Their dialogue centered on the latest developments in Iran-Pakistan cooperation, parliamentary interactions, and an examination of both opportunities and challenges, particularly in terms of boosting bilateral trade.
