Tehran: Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi asserted that Iran's entitlement to enrich uranium is non-negotiable, in response to what he described as 'unreasonable and illogical' demands from the United States. The comments were made amidst ongoing indirect negotiations with the U.S.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araqchi's remarks were delivered during a ceremony where he criticized conflicting statements by American officials regarding Iran's enrichment program. He emphasized the unreasonableness of the U.S. demands, which have been publicly articulated recently.

U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff stated over the weekend that a deal with Iran would only be possible if it entirely ceased its enrichment activities, marking it as a 'red line' for the Trump administration. Araqchi responded promptly, reiterating Iran's stance that enrichment remains a non-negotiable right.

The stance aligns with the sentiments expressed by Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, who also emphasized that Iran does not require external permission to continue its uranium enrichment. Khamenei urged U.S. officials to avoid baseless claims.

The dialogue between Iran and the U.S., facilitated by Oman, has undergone four rounds, aiming to establish a new agreement following the U.S. withdrawal from the previous deal during Trump's first term.
