Tehran: Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi has emphasized that the Iranian nation will not acquiesce to any demands made under pressure, sanctions, or threats.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Gharibabadi made these remarks during the opening ceremony of an exhibition showcasing Iranian women's achievements. He stated that sanctions infringing on people's rights impact lives across all sectors, yet they will never fulfill their intended objectives. He criticized Western countries for their contradictory stance on human rights, accusing them of being the primary violators of Iranian rights through unilateral sanctions and resolutions passed in international bodies such as the United Nations Human Rights Council and the UN General Assembly.

Highlighting Iran's commitment to human rights, Gharibabadi pointed out that the country has been a victim of terrorism, with over 23,000 Iranian citizens, including men, women, and children, having lost their lives to terrorist acts. He also condemned the actions of the Israeli regime in Gaza and criticized those who profess support for human rights for failing to act against these crimes, instead offering political, financial, and military backing to Israel.

Earlier, on February 24, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi expressed concerns over the manipulation of human rights as a tool for political and economic leverage by certain countries. He urged all governments to protect and promote human rights based on fairness and impartiality. Araqchi reiterated that Iran has long suffered from such coercive policies and called for 'the immediate lifting of all unilateral sanctions,' which he argued infringe upon the fundamental human rights of Iranians and have inflicted suffering on millions of innocent individuals.
