Tehran: Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has declared Iran's unwavering commitment to support the Iraqi administration in countering unlawful actions by the United States.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araqchi expressed regret over the U.S. administration's decision to target the Iraqi nation, emphasizing the adverse impacts on Iraq's access to essential services. In a statement posted on his X account late Monday, Araqchi criticized the U.S. for seeking to deprive Iraq of access to electricity, a critical service especially needed during the hot months ahead.

The United States recently ended a sanctions waiver that permitted Iraq to import electricity from Iran. This move aligns with U.S. President Donald Trump's strategy of applying maximum pressure on Tehran, as reported by Al Jazeera on Sunday. Araqchi reiterated Iran's commitment to stand with the Iraqi people and government, promising to engage actively in efforts to counteract the U.S. measures.
