Iran’s Zarif and Qatar’s Foreign Minister Discuss Regional Affairs Including Gaza

Davos: Iran's Vice-President for Strategic Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif has engaged in discussions with Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani on regional developments, focusing on areas such as Gaza and Syria. The meeting occurred on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum 2025 in Davos, Switzerland, as reported by Qatar's Foreign Ministry.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the discussions between the two officials revolved around various regional developments, with a particular emphasis on the situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories. They also explored topics of mutual interest and discussed potential enhancements to Tehran-Doha relations.

Zarif expressed his gratitude for Qatar's involvement in facilitating a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and the exchange of prisoners between Israel and Palestine. Qatar played a role alongside the US and Egypt in mediating the Gaza ceasefire deal, which was announced on January 15 and took effect four days later. This three-phase ceasefire concluded over 15 months of Israeli attacks on Gaza and allowed for the entry of humanitarian aid into the region.

Zarif's visit to Davos included meetings with several world leaders, such as the Iraqi prime minister, the Serbian president, and the Norwegian foreign minister, as part of his diplomatic engagements.
