Baghdad: Iraq's ambassador to Iran, Yasser Abdulzahra Al-Hajjaj, emphasized that the anticipated visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi to Tehran underscores Baghdad's dedication to bolstering bilateral cooperation and enhancing coordination on shared interests.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Al-Hajjaj, in a commentary published by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), highlighted the historical, cultural, and religious foundations of Iran-Iraq relations. He noted that these ties have expanded in recent years, encompassing political, economic, cultural, and social domains. The ambassador stressed that Iran remains a priority in Iraq's foreign policy due to its political, economic, and social significance. He stated that his mission in Tehran is to deepen bilateral ties grounded in mutual respect and non-interference, aiming for broader cooperation that benefits both nations.

Al-Hajjaj pointed out that both countries possess substantial potential to enhance their partnership by fostering economic cooperation, promoting investment, boosting trade, and advancing projects in transport, connectivity, and energy sectors for shared gains. The ambassador remarked that the Iraqi prime minister's upcoming visit highlights Baghdad's commitment to dialogue, constructive engagement, and confidence-building, paving the way for new opportunities in the bilateral partnership.

He concluded by stating that future relations between Iran and Iraq should concentrate on strengthening economic and cultural cooperation and political dialogue, which in turn would advance the interests of both countries and contribute to regional security and stability.
