Baghdad: Baghdad's Friday prayer leader has described the latest statement by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei as pivotal to the future of the West Asia region, affirming Iran's sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ayatollah Sayyed Yassin al-Moussawi, a senior scholar at the Najaf Seminary and Friday prayer leader of Baghdad, addressed a number of regional and international developments during his weekly sermon, with a particular focus on the Strait of Hormuz, Iraqi media reported on Saturday.

Moussawi warned that the world stands on the verge of major upheavals capable of severely disrupting the global economy.

He praised the statement by Ayatollah Khamenei, saying it is not limited to regional issues but carries strategic messages about the future of the world order, especially since the global economy depends on vital chokepoints like the Strait of Hormuz.

Any tensions or closure of these passages would expose the global economy to collapse, Moussawi warned, adding that military movements and force repositioning in the region indicate a clear change in the balance of power and mark the beginning of a new phase of regional and global reordering.

Moussawi also stated that the Iran Leader's statement conveyed firm messages about the region's future and emphasized the Islamic Republic's sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, while raising the possibility of reopening the maritime route to all countries once a new balance is established and foreign forces are withdrawn from the region.
