Tehran: Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi has convened a meeting with foreign ambassadors residing in Tehran to discuss Iran's latest proposal aimed at ending hostilities involving the United States and Israel against Iran.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, during the Saturday meeting, Gharibabadi emphasized Iran's commitment to diplomacy based on national interests as a means to resolve conflicts. He assured that while Iran is inclined towards diplomatic solutions, it remains fully prepared to counter any aggression against its people and territory.

Gharibabadi revealed that Iran has recently submitted its proposal to Pakistan, which is mediating negotiations with the United States. The proposal aims to bring a permanent end to the ongoing conflict. He stated that it is now up to the US to decide whether to pursue diplomacy or maintain a confrontational stance.

He further stressed Iran's readiness for both outcomes to safeguard its national interests and security, highlighting the country's ongoing skepticism and distrust towards the United States due to past betrayals in diplomatic efforts.

In addition, Gharibabadi had earlier engaged in a trilateral meeting with the ambassadors of China and Russia over the new proposal that was delivered to Pakistan on Thursday evening. This follows a ceasefire between Iran and the United States on April 7, with subsequent negotiations in Islamabad on April 11, mediated by Pakistan, which ended without a breakthrough.
