Tehran: Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has condemned Israel for killing journalists, saying that targeting journalists is a direct assault on humanitarian principles and freedom of expression.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the IRGC issued a statement on Tuesday, reacting to a targeted Israeli attack on a tent in Gaza City late on Sunday, which left five journalists dead, including prominent reporter of Al Jazeera, Anas Al-Sharif. The statement accused Israel of attempting to silence the voice of truth and stated that the attack demonstrates Israel’s willingness to conceal its actions.

The IRGC emphasized that this act not only violates human rights but also impinges on the right of nations to access truthful information. They highlighted the crucial role journalists play in uncovering and communicating truths amid ongoing conflicts, suggesting that the attack was an attempt to stifle this essential function.

The statement further accused Israel of attempting to hide the reality of its actions in Gaza by targeting journalists.
