Tehran: The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has announced that its naval and aerospace forces conducted a joint missile and drone operation in the early hours of Sunday, describing the action as a response to recent US military aggression.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the IRGC's Public Relations Office released a statement on Sunday detailing that the operation occurred between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. local time. The statement revealed that ballistic missiles and drones targeted eight US military infrastructure sites, including facilities at Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain. The IRGC emphasized that these strikes were a retaliation for recent US attacks.

The IRGC statement further mentioned that US forces had launched attacks on five Iranian coastal positions earlier that day, following an incident involving the IRGC Navy. The IRGC highlighted its responsibility under the Islamabad memorandum of understanding (MoU) to regulate transit through the Strait of Hormuz, warning that vessels violating these arrangements would face stricter enforcement measures.

Moreover, the IRGC statement cautioned that any future military action against Iran, regardless of its scale or justification, would be met with a strong response. It asserted that any breach of the ceasefire would violate the first clause of the document and could lead to the suspension of all related processes.
