IRGC Launches Retaliatory Strikes on US Bases in Middle East

Tehran: The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has launched a series of retaliatory missile and drone strikes on US military bases located in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait. This action follows Washington's recent wave of airstrikes on southern Iran, which the US attributed to attacks on ships navigating the Strait of Hormuz. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the IRGC initiated the attacks on Sunday in response to the US military's actions in southern Iran. The US had conducted airstrikes after claiming Iran's involvement in attacks on vessels in the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC stated that it intercepted two ships in the Strait for turning off their tracking systems and taking unauthorized routes, which they deemed a threat to traffic in the area. The IRGC confirmed targeting Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan with missiles and drones, describing the action as a response to US strikes following the interception of the two ships. The IRGC declared that the initial phase of their operation resulted in the destruction of several large missile depots and fuel storage facilities at the base. In the subsequent phase, IRGC Aerospace Force targeted US facilities at Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain. The strikes focused on key helicopter maintenance and repair sites, a hangar housing a P-8 electronic warfare aircraft, and the command-and-control center for US drone operations. The operation's third and fourth phases focused on US military bases in Kuwait. The IRGC reported the destruction of fuel storage tanks and a Patriot air defense system at Ali Al Salem base, along with an FPS strategic radar system at Ahmad Al Jaber Air Base. Additionally, the IRGC Ground Force targeted a US Army surface-to-surface missile base, destroying HIMARS missile launchers and ammunition depots. The IRGC emphasized its claim over the Strait of Hormuz as Iranian territory, asserting its stance against foreign interference by describing the US military's actions as illegal and aggressive. The statement underlined Iran's determination to defend its sovereignty against what it called a "rogue, child-killing army" from afar.
