IRGC Navy Enforces Designated Shipping Routes in Strait of Hormuz

Strait of hormuz: The Naval Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has issued a directive emphasizing that vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz must adhere strictly to the routes officially designated by Iran. This announcement comes amid reports of a new shipping route being introduced without prior coordination with Tehran.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the IRGC Navy released a statement early Thursday, denouncing the newly announced route as dangerous and unacceptable, highlighting that it was implemented without the involvement or approval of Iranian authorities. The statement reiterated that the only recognized and safe navigation paths through this crucial waterway are those previously established by Iran.

The IRGC Navy's statement underscored that navigating outside these sanctioned corridors would lead vessels into restricted and potentially perilous zones. It strongly advised maritime operators against using any unauthorized routes, deeming such actions as highly dangerous and prohibited.

Furthermore, the IRGC Navy insisted on mandatory coordination for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, which must be executed through maritime Channel 16. The statement concluded with a warning that any vessels found violating these regulations would be subject to appropriate actions by Iranian forces.
