Tehran: The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy has announced it targeted multiple US military positions in the region as a response to what it describes as an American act of aggression against Iran's southern coast.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the IRGC Navy released a statement through Sepah News, indicating that the United States breached its commitments by launching airstrikes on Iran's coastline. The US action was reportedly justified under the pretext of a vessel's unauthorized passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

The statement further criticized Washington for violating a ceasefire, following Israel's breach of the truce in southern Lebanon. The IRGC Navy asserted its actions were a direct response to the aggression, targeting what it referred to as the "terrorist US army" positions in the region.

Highlighting the legal framework, the IRGC referenced Article 5 of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding, which dictates that navigation through the Strait of Hormuz should be coordinated with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The statement accused the United States of attempting to breach these commitments through various provocations.

The IRGC Navy concluded with a warning that any future aggression would trigger "a broader response than this."
