IRNA CEO Unveils Strategic Roadmap for Media Transformation

Tehran: In a briefing to President Masoud Pezeshkian during his visit to the headquarters of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), CEO Hossein Jaberi Ansari provided a comprehensive pathology of news media in Iran and proposed a strategic roadmap for the future of IRNA under his leadership.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, during this managerial period under the national unity government, Jaberi Ansari emphasized a problem-solving approach to revisiting IRNA's issues and strategic program. President Pezeshkian's visit to the IRNA headquarters coincided with the news organization's 90th founding anniversary, marking a significant moment for the agency and its future direction.

Jaberi Ansari highlighted the importance of avoiding excessive attention to Tehran and politicization, aiming instead for a national, regional, and global perspective on issues. He noted the emphasis placed by Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, on the vital role of media in the ongoing 'cognitive warfare' at the international level.

Outlining new strategies for IRNA, Jaberi Ansari stated that the agency would focus on three main approaches. The first is transforming IRNA into a national news agency that acts as a 'communication bridge' between the government and the public. The second approach is to establish IRNA as a 'professional' news agency for Iran, moving beyond mere propaganda. Lastly, he emphasized the need to expand IRNA's visual and television capabilities to keep pace with evolving media trends.

Jaberi Ansari introduced four key policies to support these approaches, including activating 57 provincial offices to decentralize from Tehran, covering a broad range of issues beyond politics, representing diverse voices of the Iranian people, and adopting a regional and global perspective in reporting. He stressed that IRNA belongs to the people and different strata of Iran's society, aiming to be the voice of the voiceless.
