Tehran: A senior Iranian diplomat has criticized the effectiveness of American military bases in providing security for regional countries following the recent Israeli airstrikes on Doha, Qatar. The strikes aimed to target Hamas leaders who had assembled to discuss a US-proposed ceasefire in Gaza.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Mohammad Reza Raouf Sheibani, serving as the foreign minister’s special envoy on West Asia affairs, commented on the situation by asserting that the presence of US military installations has failed to ensure the safety of host nations. He further argued that these bases have instead emboldened Israel to execute such attacks, leveraging the protective capability of American military assets.
The airstrikes, which took place on Tuesday, did not result in any harm to senior Hamas leaders, as confirmed by the Palestinian resistance group.
