Beirut: The Israeli regime's military carried out new attacks on southern Lebanon early Saturday, with local media reporting explosions in several areas despite ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at maintaining stability along the border.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, an explosion occurred in the town of Zawtar al-Sharqiyah in southern Lebanon. The broadcaster also reported that the regime's artillery shelled the Mashaa al-Mansouri area in the Tyre district.

The latest strikes came hours after Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned repeated Israeli attacks and ceasefire violations in southern Lebanon, particularly incidents targeting infrastructure and historical sites listed as UNESCO World Heritage locations.

In an official statement, Aoun said the attacks posed a direct threat to the implementation of the recently signed framework agreement, stressing that Lebanon remains committed to fulfilling its obligations under the deal.

He noted that the timing of the attacks, ahead of planned talks in Rome on advancing the trilateral framework, sent negative signals and undermined international efforts to preserve security and stability in southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese president called on the guarantor states and the international community to fulfill their responsibilities by taking action to halt violations that threaten diplomatic progress.

Local media also reported powerful explosions across several villages in southern Lebanon on Friday, with blasts heard as far as the city of Sidon.

The framework agreement, brokered by the United States last month, has faced criticism over implementation and troop withdrawal provisions.
