Geneva: Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Ali Bahraini, has sharply criticized Israel’s military actions against Qatar, labeling them a threat to both regional and global peace. Bahraini warned that failure by the international community to act could lead to further spread of aggression and expansionism, likening it to a ‘cancerous tumor’ that endangers the security of the entire region.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Bahraini delivered these remarks during an emergency session of the UN Human Rights Council. He stated, “This aggression sends a clear message-not just about a regime with a history of systematic genocide and repeated acts of aggression, but as a serious warning to all of us. Our inaction and failure to uphold legal and moral principles have allowed a sinister entity to destroy global order and security.”
Bahraini criticized the Israeli regime as an “apartheid regime” that disregards international law and principles of civilized nations. He further emphasized that the brief cessation of violence by Israel only occurred due to intervention from Iran’s armed forces. The ambassador urged the international community to take decisive action to prevent Israel’s aggression from continuing unchecked, which he claimed threatens all countries in the region.
He also expressed Iran’s solidarity with Qatar, supporting efforts to hold Israel accountable for its actions. The emergency session was convened at the UN headquarters in Geneva at the behest of several Islamic countries and Qatar, following an Israeli attack on Qatari soil on September 9.
