Rome: Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, has emphasized the significance of the recent memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States as a pivotal step towards achieving regional stability. He also reiterated Rome's willingness to assist in facilitating ongoing negotiations between the two nations.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Tajani made these statements following a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, on Wednesday evening. Through a post on his X account, Tajani underscored the necessity of preserving the agreement and guiding both parties towards a conclusive understanding.

Tajani further elaborated on the commitment to a 60-day negotiation period, during which the United States and Iran are expected to finalize the agreement. He expressed Italy's readiness to support and facilitate this process actively.

In addition, the Italian foreign minister stressed the importance of ensuring the complete reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. During his discussion with Araghchi, he addressed the situation in Lebanon, highlighting Italy's stance on the urgency of ceasing military operations in the region.
