Tehran: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, have discussed the recently signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Tehran and Washington. During the phone call, Araghchi and Al-Sabah addressed the Islamabad MoU, regional developments, and bilateral ties.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the top Iranian diplomat briefed his Kuwaiti counterpart on the contents and latest developments regarding the Islamabad MoU. Reaffirming Iran's commitment to good neighborly relations, Araghchi expressed hope that the Islamabad MoU would restore peace and stability in the region. He also emphasized the importance of dialogue with Persian Gulf countries to boost cooperation and clarify ambiguities.

The two sides further discussed key bilateral issues and agreed to maintain diplomatic talks to follow up on the matters raised. The Islamabad MoU was electronically signed by US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on June 18, 2026, with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif serving as mediator.
