Japanese Envoy Marks 100 Years of Tehran-Tokyo Relations with Musical Tribute

Tehran: Japan's Ambassador to Iran, Tsukada Tamaki, has performed the iconic theme music from the Japanese television series Oshin with Tehran's private Istgah Orchestra, marking the approach of the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Tehran and Tokyo. The ambassador appeared not as a diplomat but as the flute soloist in a performance celebrating one of the most enduring shared cultural memories between the Iranian and Japanese peoples.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the performance also featured two other memorable Japanese television themes, Hanako and Anne and Kita no Kuni kara (From the Northern Country), in an effort to present elements of Japan's cultural identity through music. It comes as Iran and Japan prepare to commemorate a century of diplomatic ties, underscoring the growing significance of cultural exchanges between the two countries.

After its original broadcast in Japan, Oshin was aired in more than 60 countries and became a cultural touchstone, enjoying particularly strong popularity in Iran.
