Tehran: President Masoud Pezeshkian has highlighted the constructive achievements from his recent visits to Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, noting their importance in bolstering Iran’s neighborhood policy. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, upon his return to Tehran, President Pezeshkian emphasized Iran’s dedication to enhancing ties with neighboring countries. He stated that the meetings and negotiations during the trip resulted in valuable agreements across various sectors.

The president pointed out that 14 cooperation documents were signed with Kazakhstan, which he described as beneficial for both nations and the broader region. He mentioned that a delegation of Iranian economic players accompanied him and successfully forged encouraging understandings with their Kazakh counterparts.

Pezeshkian also reported progress in talks on cultural and health cooperation. During his visit to Kazakhstan, he toured a major university and a state-of-the-art hospital in Astana, focusing discussions on expanding collaboration in medical sciences, biotechnology, and digital health.

Regarding his trip to Turkmenistan for the International Forum of Peace and Trust, Pezeshkian described productive meetings with the national leader and president of Turkmenistan. These discussions revisited existing bilateral agreements and yielded new understandings to enhance cooperation.

In addition to his meetings in Turkmenistan, President Pezeshkian engaged in several diplomatic discussions on the forum’s sidelines. He met with Russian President Vladimir Putin to review existing agreements and assess steps to expedite the Treaty on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Iran and Russia.

The Iranian president also held talks with senior officials from Pakistan, Iraq, and Myanmar, and exchanged brief remarks with the presidents of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. He remarked that such multilateral events offer rare opportunities for numerous diplomatic meetings that would otherwise necessitate numerous separate trips.

Pezeshkian concluded that the outcomes of the visit represent a meaningful advancement in Iran’s neighborhood diplomacy.
