Iran and Pakistan Pledge to Enhance Bilateral Relations and Accelerate Agreements

Ashgabat: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have emphasized the necessity for enhanced coordination on regional developments and the complete implementation of agreements between their countries. Pezeshkian and Sharif convened on the sidelines of the International Conference of Peace and Trust in Turkmenistan.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, during the meeting, the leaders assessed the current state of Iran-Pakistan relations and highlighted the significance of bolstering joint initiatives. They noted the substantial potential both nations possess in the areas of transportation, transit, and border infrastructure development, stressing the urgency of advancing the agreements concluded during Pezeshkian’s recent visit to Islamabad.

The officials agreed that expanding transport routes, facilitating trade movements, and enhancing economic cooperation are crucial steps in strengthening their bilateral ties. Regional issues were also on the agenda, with both leaders advocating for closer alignment within shared regional initiatives.

Pezeshkian and Sharif acknowledged the historical, cultural, and geographic bonds between Iran and Pakistan as a robust foundation for collaboration. They identified energy, trade, border security, the development of border markets, and the strengthening of people-to-people ties as vital areas that could greatly enhance regional stability and prosperity.

The dialogue concluded with both sides expressing optimism that the implementation of bilateral agreements would proceed more swiftly and coherently, paving the way for a stronger partnership as Iran and Pakistan continue to cultivate their growing relationship.
