Ahvaz: Khuzestan Steel Company has broken new ground with its innovative production of iron from industrial sludge, marking a significant step forward in both economic savings and environmental protection. Mohammad Jame'i, the director of the Public Relations Department of the company, announced this breakthrough, describing it as a pioneering achievement in the steel industry.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Jame'i elaborated on the innovative method called Recycled iron Briquettes (RiB), highlighting its role as a major advancement. He emphasized that Iran leads the way in this field, with the project entirely conceived and executed by Iranian specialists, without any foreign assistance. This method elevates the purity of iron from industrial sludge from 65% to 95%. So far, approximately 7,000 tons of this high-purity product have been manufactured, and the company has the capacity to produce 15 tons per hour.
The project promises to cut production costs by up to 15% while significantly curbing environmental pollution resulting from industrial sludge. Khuzestan Steel Company, which generates 1,000 tons of industrial sludge daily, plans to recycle half of it, leading to substantial annual savings.
In alignment with the national motto 'Investment for Production,' as declared by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Jame'i noted the company's plans to venture into renewable energy projects, including the establishment of a solar power plant.
Despite facing U.S. sanctions, the company, supported by its workforce of 17,500 engineers and workers, remains committed to maintaining its operations and overcoming challenges.
