Tehran: Vice President for Rural Development Affairs Abdolkarim Hosseinzadeh stated that Iran will not allow any conspiracy to drive a wedge between the Islamic Republic and Iraq's Kurdistan Region, emphasizing that Iran and the northern Iraqi region are united. Hosseinzadeh made these remarks on Monday on X, following a drone attack on the office of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani earlier that day.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the vice president strongly condemned the attack and called for accountability for those responsible. He expressed his solidarity, stating, "As an Iranian Kurd and a member of the Iranian government, I strongly condemn the attack on the office of my brother, Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq," underscoring the unity between Iran and the Iraqi region.
Hosseinzadeh highlighted the deep bonds between Iran and Iraq, stating, "We are more than just neighbors. We are one. We will not allow any attack or conspiracy to drive a wedge between Iran and the Kurdistan Region. The truth must come to light, and those responsible must be held accountable."
Additionally, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei labeled the attack on Barzani's office as "highly suspicious" and urged regional vigilance to counteract efforts to destabilize the relationship between Iran and Iraq.
