Tehran: Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the recent 12-day imposed war waged against Iran demonstrated the strength and determination of the Islamic Republic.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks during a ceremony at the Imam Khomeini Hussainiya in Tehran to mark the 40th day since the martyrdom of those killed in the war. Crowds of people, along with families of the martyrs and senior state and military officials, attended the ceremony.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution described the 12-day imposed war by the Israeli regime against the Iranian nation as demonstrating the Islamic Republic’s resolute will and power, while showcasing the unmatched firmness of the Islamic Republic’s foundation. He emphasized that the root cause of enmity toward Iran lies in the nation’s ‘faith, knowledge, and unity,’ adding that Iranians will never abandon their religion or knowledge and will take great strides in elevating the country to progress and glory.
Ayatollah Khamenei extended his condolences to the families of the military commanders, scientists, and citizens who lost their lives in the recent conflict. He highlighted the significant achievements gained during the 12 days, which were acknowledged globally, and emphasized Iran’s power, resilience, determination, and capability.
He also pointed out that the recent war further demonstrated the resilience of the foundations of the Islamic Republic, noting that over the past 46 years, alongside the eight-year imposed war, the Islamic Republic has successfully faced and neutralized various enemy conspiracies, including coup attempts and military-political-security seditions.
Ayatollah Khamenei remarked that the Global Arrogance, led by America, opposes the Iranians’ religion, knowledge, and unity under the banner of Islam and the Qur’an. He stated that the enemies’ claims about nuclear issues, enrichment, and human rights are mere pretexts, with the real reason for their resentment being the emergence of the Islamic Republic’s innovative discourse and capabilities in scientific, technical, religious, and humanities fields.
The conflict began on June 13 when Israel waged its war of aggression against Iran, assassinating top military commanders and scientists and killing civilians in residential area attacks. More than 1,000 people lost their lives. The United States joined the war on June 22, bombing three key Iranian nuclear sites before a ceasefire demanded by Israel took effect on June 24. The Iranian Armed Forces responded by striking targets in the Israeli-occupied territories and a major American airbase in Qatar.
