Tehran: Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei has appointed Major General Ali Abdollahi as Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces. In a decree on Monday, the Leader cited General Abdollahi's 'commendable services and valuable experience' as the basis for the appointment.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Leader outlined three key priorities for the new chief of staff. These priorities include enhancing the comprehensive and up-to-date defense and security capabilities of the Armed Forces and the Basij. Additionally, ensuring timely, revolutionary, and effective responses to all levels of conventional and modern military, cognitive, and hybrid threats against the Islamic Republic is emphasized as a crucial objective.
The appointment also focuses on completing the integration process of the Armed Forces General Staff and the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, in line with the vision of the martyred Imam Khomeini. This strategic move comes in the wake of the martyrdom of Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, who was assassinated in a Zionist-American airstrike earlier this year.
