Leader’s Aide Ridicules Trump for Lacking Understanding of Political Economy

Tehran: Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution on international affairs, mocks the US president for threatening Iran with famine, saying Donald Trump's recent rhetoric shows his ignorance of political economy.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Velayati criticized Trump in a message posted on his X network on Sunday. He stated that Trump was unaware of the world's economic and political situation, noting that his "Hollywood-inspired shows and clowning" could not obscure the harsh realities of geopolitics.

Velayati highlighted Trump's lack of awareness when the US president threatened Iran with famine. He emphasized that international food security and the chain supply of chemical fertilizers depend significantly on Iran's strategic activities in the Strait of Hormuz.

The advisor also addressed the perceived decline in US power, citing the withdrawal of troops from Germany, weakening of NATO, and frequent technical issues with American warships. These, he argued, demonstrate a disconnection between the illusions fostered by the White House and the actual situation.

In a direct message to Trump, Velayati warned of the consequences of a naval blockade on Iran. He taunted Trump by saying that international politics is not akin to the Hollywood movie 'Jack Sparrow,' and that those who meddle with Iran's crucial arteries will find themselves trapped.
