Tehran: Iran's minister of energy says according to international reports, Iran ranks among the world's leading nations, with a 94 to 95 percent coverage rate for high-quality drinking water. Abbas Aliabadi emphasized that the achievement reflects the extensive and continuous efforts of the personnel across the country's water industry.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Aliabadi pointed to Iran's tough climate conditions, adding that an analysis of climate change trends over the past five decades demonstrates that this phenomenon has significantly impacted the nation's water resources. Consequently, new planning and initiatives tailored to these shifting conditions are urgently required.

The minister highlighted that managing water resources more effectively demands a serious shift in the country's water-consumption approach. He listed key strategies currently under study, including utilizing coastal water potential, developing seawater desalination technologies, and implementing efficient programs to curb water consumption.
