Tehran: Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei has stated that the legacy of Lebanese Shia cleric Musa al-Sadr is still alive and continues to inspire more than four decades after his disappearance. Baghaei emphasized the enduring influence of al-Sadr’s principles and legacy, highlighting their relevance in contemporary times.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baghaei remarked, “47 years have passed since the disappearance of Imam Musa Sadr, yet his principles and legacy remain alive and continue to inspire,” in a post on X late on Sunday. The Iranian diplomat underscored the importance of al-Sadr’s thoughts and views in providing guidance during times of regional instability and threats to national unity.
Baghaei shared these reflections on the anniversary of al-Sadr’s disappearance. The prominent Iranian-Lebanese cleric, along with his two companions, was last seen on August 31, 1978, after traveling to Libya for discussions with government officials. Despite extensive investigations, their whereabouts remain unknown.
