Islamabad: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan has confirmed that Islamabad has been invited to participate in talks between Iran and the US, which are set to take place in Istanbul, Turkiye, later this week.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi stated that Pakistan has received the invitation for the upcoming talks between Iran and the United States. The talks are seen as a critical engagement aimed at reducing regional tensions.

Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is expected to attend the meeting. A diplomatic source highlighted that Pakistan's involvement is significant for reducing tensions, as Islamabad has informally worked to facilitate the groundwork for the discussions.

US President Donald Trump recently pledged to engage the Islamic Republic in negotiations after threatening the country with military action. He expressed openness to reaching an agreement, stating, 'We have talks going on with Iran, we'll see how it all works out,' during a press briefing at the White House. Trump further remarked, 'I'd like to see a deal negotiated,' indicating a willingness to resolve issues through dialogue.
