Tehran: The head of Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee has warned that the presence of the United States and other foreign powers in the region would benefit no country, describing Washington and the Israeli regime as common threats to regional states. Ebrahim Azizi made the remarks during a meeting in Tehran with Qatari ambassador Saad bin Abdullah.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Azizi criticized foreign interference, stating that the US and the Israeli regime constitute a shared threat to countries in the region. He emphasized that the presence of the US and "foreigners who seek to plunder resources" would not serve the interests of any nation. Azizi also highlighted the strong relations between Iran and Qatar, noting that Tehran would not allow the presence of foreign countries to damage the two sides' cordial ties.

Azizi condemned the Israeli regime's attacks on Iranian and Qatari territories, calling them evidence of the regime's "brutal nature." Referring to recent riots in Iran, he mentioned that crimes committed against Iranian citizens and security forces came in the wake of the Israeli regime's "humiliating defeat" in the 12-day war. He further stated that the dispatch of terrorist groups to Iran resulted in another defeat for the US and Israel.

Azizi stressed the historical ties between Iran and Qatar, calling for the expansion and upgrading of bilateral relations. He underscored the importance of expanding parliamentary relations as a basis for broader intergovernmental ties and greater regional convergence.

For his part, the Qatari ambassador congratulated Iran on the anniversary of the Ten-Day Dawn of the Islamic Revolution and offered condolences over the martyrdom of Iranian citizens and security forces in recent terrorist attacks. He reaffirmed Doha's strong relations with Tehran, stating that Iran's security is important for Qatar. The ambassador also condemned any encroachment on Iran's security and voiced support for expanding cooperation in cultural, political, and economic fields.
