Tehran: Pakistan's Army has announced that Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir held highly constructive talks with senior Iranian officials during his one-day visit to Tehran, focusing on regional peace, preventing further escalation, and resolving disputes through dialogue.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in a statement issued after the visit, Pakistan's military public relations office declared that Munir met with President Masoud Pezeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Mohsen Rezaei, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.

The statement said Munir's visit was part of Pakistan's diplomatic efforts to help overcome the deadlock in US-Iran negotiations and explore ways to achieve lasting peace and end instability in the region.

The discussions in Tehran were described as comprehensive, with particular emphasis on preventing further escalation, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and accelerating efforts to end the conflict.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional peace and mechanisms for resolving disputes through negotiations.

Pakistan's Army said Iranian officials appreciated Islamabad's constructive role and sincere efforts to facilitate dialogue, reduce tensions, and promote a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

During his meeting with Munir, President Pezeshkian stressed that the United States should honor its commitments toward Iran in accordance with international law and Iran's legitimate rights. He also called for Washington to revise its tone and approach toward Tehran.

Ghalibaf said Iran was pursuing implementation of the memorandum of understanding and stressed that the United States must fulfill its commitments under the agreement.
