Tehran: Pakistan's Ambassador to Iran, Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, has called for strengthening scientific and technological collaboration between Pakistan and Iran during his visit to Sharif University of Technology in Tehran.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Siddiqui, along with a delegation from the Pakistani embassy, visited the prominent Iranian university to engage with academics and students and learn about its educational, research, industrial, and technological advancements. The meeting included a briefing on the university's state of affairs by key figures such as University President Masoud Tajrishi, Vice President for Research and Technology Mohammad Reza Movahedi, Director of International Affairs Hamed Sadeghi, and several faculty and research center directors.

The discussions explored potential cooperation in areas like artificial intelligence, energy, water, and the environment. The meeting also included a report on existing scientific and research partnerships between Sharif University and Pakistani universities and scientific centers. Further discussions highlighted Sharif University's role in fostering a regional scientific cooperation network and organizing joint specialized programs, with a particular focus on AI collaboration under the OIC-15 Dialogue Platform.

University President Masoud Tajrishi remarked on the historical, civilizational, and cultural ties between Iran and Pakistan, underscoring their potential to enhance scientific and technological cooperation. Ambassador Siddiqui expressed gratitude for the university's hospitality and noted satisfaction with the existing scientific collaborations between researchers from both nations.
