Pakistani FM Announces Successful Repatriation of Iranian and Pakistani Sailors

Islamabad: Pakistani Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar announced that the operation to repatriate 20 Iranian and 11 Pakistani sailors, left stranded following the US detention of their vessel in Singaporean waters, has succeeded, and all are being flown today from Thailand to Islamabad.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ishaq Dar shared on his X account that the repatriation process involved the assistance of Singapore and highlighted the cooperation between Pakistan and Iran. The detained sailors were aboard vessels seized by the United States in international waters.

Dar emphasized that all individuals are in good health and spirits. He reiterated the government's commitment to the welfare and well-being of Pakistanis abroad, especially those in difficult situations.

The sailors reached Bangkok from Singapore and have boarded a flight scheduled to arrive in Islamabad later tonight. Arrangements have been made for the Iranian sailors to return to their homeland after reaching Pakistan.

Last week, Pakistan's foreign minister engaged in discussions with his Iranian and Singaporean counterparts. These talks resulted in the US agreeing to release the detained sailors, with Pakistan facilitating their return.
