Pakistani Forces Eliminate 54 Militants at Afghan Border: Army

Tehran: Pakistani security forces have reportedly eliminated 54 militants attempting to cross the border from Afghanistan, as stated by the army on Sunday. The operation, which highlights ongoing tensions in the region, underscores Pakistan's continuous battle against militant threats along its frontier.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Pakistani army's statement revealed that intelligence reports identified the militants as khwarij, a term used by the Pakistani government to describe members of the Pakistani Taliban. The army accused the militants of being deployed by their 'foreign masters' to execute terrorist activities within Pakistan's borders.

The army's statement detailed that 54 militants were killed during the confrontation. Security forces were successful in confiscating weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the site. This incident marks a significant point in Pakistan's ongoing counter-terrorism operations.

Pakistan has consistently accused India of supporting militant factions to instigate attacks within its territory. Recent hostilities between the two South Asian nations have intensified, particularly after a fatal attack on tourists in Pahalgam, southern Kashmir, which India attributed to Pakistan.

The Pakistani army also cited a recent National Security Committee (NSC) meeting that implied India's strategic objective was to divert Pakistan's security forces from their anti-terrorism efforts. The army highlighted that the number of militants killed in this single engagement was unprecedented in Pakistan's history of combating terrorism.
