Persian Miniature Art Mourns the Loss of Maestro Mahmoud Farshchian

Isfahan: Mahmoud Farshchian, a master of Persian miniature painting, has passed away at the age of 95. The revered artist died on August 9, 2025, while being hospitalized in the United States. His loss marks the end of a significant era in the world of traditional Persian art.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Farshchian, born in the historical city of Isfahan in 1930, was a pivotal figure in Persian miniature painting. He was not only a celebrated artist but also a member of the Iranian Academy of Arts. Throughout his illustrious career, he remained committed to the authentic foundations of traditional Persian art while simultaneously expanding its possibilities with innovative techniques.

Farshchian is recognized as the founder of a distinct style and school of Iranian painting. His contributions have left an indelible mark on the art world, influencing countless artists and admirers of Persian art.
