Brussels: European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness, and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib has stated that the Israeli regime’s decision to expand its military offensive in Gaza will further worsen the humanitarian situation in the enclave. She emphasized that an immediate ceasefire is essential, along with the unconditional release of all hostages and the large-scale delivery of humanitarian aid, in full compliance with international humanitarian law. Lahbib also noted that there is no alternative to a two-state solution.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, these remarks came after Israel’s security cabinet approved a plan by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the complete occupation of Gaza City. The international community has reacted strongly, with Australia, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, and the UK condemning the Israeli regime’s plan in a joint statement.

Since October 2023, the Israeli regime has killed over 61,300 people in its military actions in Gaza, pushing the enclave to the brink of famine. The situation has raised alarms globally, highlighting the urgent need for a resolution to the ongoing conflict.
