Tehran: The Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance has made efforts to strengthen cultural diplomacy and international interactions while pursuing national unity, cultural justice, and reduced government intervention in cultural affairs, IRNA's review of the ministry's performance under President Masoud Pezeshkian's administration shows.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, under the Pezeshkian administration, which took office on July 28, 2024, the Culture Ministry has based its policies on three main principles: 'national unity and cohesion,' 'strengthening the cultural and artistic economy,' and 'reducing government intervention and developing cultural justice.' The ministry has also focused on addressing legal and security challenges faced by some artists, making strides in resolving many of these cases.

The possibility of Iranian artists living abroad returning to the country has received greater attention under the Pezeshkian administration. Some Iranian artists had returned in the 2000s but did not receive adequate support. Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister Abbas Salehi stated that the administration has adopted a more positive approach toward Iranians abroad, including singers who wish to return.

Salehi noted that after the 12-day war, during which Iranians abroad became part of Iran's social capital, a positive perspective emerged, and the law supporting Iranians abroad was approved by Parliament. The ministry has also emphasized expanding international cultural engagement despite sanctions and imposed wars, seeking to improve interaction between the government and cultural and artistic communities.
