Bishkek: President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized the potential for achieving lasting security and stability in the region through cooperation and dialogue among regional countries, relying on their domestic and regional capacities. Pezeshkian made these remarks during a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Kyrgyzstan, where the leaders discussed bilateral relations and explored ways to expand and deepen cooperation between Tehran and Baku.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pezeshkian asserted that Iran would withstand external pressure, sanctions, and economic restrictions by leveraging its domestic capabilities and strengthening regional cooperation. He emphasized that Iran would resist any attempts by major powers to influence the will of nations. The Iranian president highlighted the importance of regional countries collaborating to establish peace and stability, stating that sustainable security could be achieved through dialogue and cooperation among neighboring states rather than external intervention.

Aliyev expressed Azerbaijan's support for the Iranian people and underscored the significance of strengthening friendly relations between the two countries. He highlighted Baku's priority in its relations with Tehran, viewing the expansion of bilateral ties as beneficial for the common interests of both nations. Aliyev also expressed Azerbaijan's readiness to enhance bilateral cooperation in trade and economic fields, advocating for the utilization of existing capacities and the creation of new opportunities to increase interaction between the two countries.

The two presidents concurred on the necessity to continue constructive consultations and dialogue, strengthen bilateral cooperation, and utilize existing capacities to further develop relations between Tehran and Baku.
