Bishkek: The Indian Foreign Ministry has described as 'fruitful' the latest meeting between the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, saying they discussed various aspects of bilateral relations. Pezeshkian and Modi held a bilateral meeting on Monday on the sidelines of the annual Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Iranian president and the Indian prime minister 'reviewed recent developments in the West Asia region.' The meeting highlighted India's consistent stance on resolving issues through dialogue and diplomacy. Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of ongoing efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region, particularly in safeguarding freedom of navigation and commerce.

President Pezeshkian, accompanied by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, arrived in the Kyrgyz capital earlier on Monday. In addition to attending the SCO summit, the president is scheduled to hold further bilateral meetings with participating heads of state on the sidelines of the gathering.
