Pezeshkian Calls for Stronger Economic, Financial Ties Among BRICS Members

New delhi: President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for stronger economic and financial relations among BRICS member states, saying expanded cooperation can contribute to their development. Pezeshkian made the remarks in a meeting with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in New Delhi on Saturday.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pezeshkian emphasized that expanding economic and financial relations among BRICS member states can lead to the development of these countries, and everyone should take steps toward increasing interactions. Pezeshkian also addressed the 'unfair' US-Israeli war of aggression on Iran, stating that attempts to create divisions among the Iranian people have instead made them more united. He asserted that by resisting, the Iranian people would not allow the United States and Israel to achieve their objectives, adding that Iran has strengthened ties with Muslim and neighboring countries.

Pezeshkian highlighted the long-standing Iran-Ethiopia relations, which have a history of more than 70 years. He stated that the two countries have always supported each other and that their relations would become more cohesive and systematic.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali expressed condolences over the martyrdom of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and praised the Iranian people's resistance, resilience, and patriotism. He noted that Ethiopians wanted to learn from them and called for expanded economic and cultural ties with Iran.
