Tehran: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has congratulated Major General Ali Abdollahi and Brigadier General Kioumars Heidari on their appointments as commander and deputy commander of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, stressing the need to strengthen coordination, preparedness, and the country's defense capabilities.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in separate messages, Pezeshkian expressed that the extensive command experience of both military commanders will provide an important foundation for carrying out their new responsibilities. Regarding General Abdollahi's appointment, the President highlighted his valuable experience in various fields of command and his effective presence in defending the country as significant assets for his new role.
Pezeshkian emphasized that protecting Iran's security, independence, and territorial integrity requires vigilance, coordination, and comprehensive preparedness, describing the new General Staff of the Armed Forces as holding a prominent and strategic position. He noted that Iran's strength relies not only on its defense capabilities but also on the cohesion and synergy of its armed forces, along with the utilization of the country's knowledge, experience, and modern defense capacities.
The President expressed confidence that with a strategic and forward-looking approach, both commanders would contribute to strengthening coordination among the armed forces and enhancing the country's deterrence capabilities. He underscored the importance of the armed forces as pillars of the country's power, security, and independence, calling for synergy and coordination among all parts of the system to safeguard national security, national interests, and territorial integrity.
Pezeshkian also paid tribute to the late Major General Martyr Seyyed Abdolrahim Mousavi, expressing hope that Abdollahi would succeed in his missions under divine guidance and directives from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. In his message to General Heidari, President Pezeshkian congratulated him on his appointment as deputy chief and highlighted his command experience and understanding of the armed forces' requirements as crucial for his mission.
He stressed that amid increasingly complex threats and opportunities facing the country, strengthening preparedness, coordination among forces, and utilizing valuable defense and operational experience are strategic necessities. Pezeshkian expressed hope that Heidari would succeed in his missions, while paying tribute to all martyrs, particularly the 'proud martyred commanders and generals' of Iran.
