Tehran: President Masoud Pezeshkian has extended his congratulations on the National Day of Persian Poetry and Literature, highlighting the influential role of the renowned Iranian poet Shahriar in bridging the gap between tradition and modernity.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in a message delivered late on Friday at a conference honoring the Iranian poet Shahriar, Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of the Persian language as a cornerstone of Iranian identity that has maintained cultural continuity over the centuries. He remarked on how Persian poetry embodies the nation's spirit, encompassing epic tales, wisdom, love, mysticism, ethics, and the everyday experiences of the people.

Pezeshkian praised Shahriar as a leading figure of contemporary poetry, who adeptly fused classical heritage with the issues of his era. Shahriar's poetry drew from faith, history, and the lives of ordinary individuals, making his work resonate deeply with the public.

Iran observes the National Day of Persian Poetry and Literature on September 18 in honor of the esteemed Persian poet Mohammad-Hossein Behjat Tabrizi, known as Shahriar. His work is noted for its political, social, and cultural insights, solidifying his status as a pivotal figure in Iranian literature.
