Tehran: Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has hit back at recent human rights allegations by French Foreign Minister, Jean-Noel Barrot, criticizing Paris for its silence over the killing of Iranian schoolchildren by the United States.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in a post on X on Saturday, Araghchi highlighted historical grievances, pointing out that 1.5 million Algerians were massacred by France during Algeria's war of independence. He noted that Paris has officially registered less than one-tenth of these casualties and has continued to refuse to apologize for its colonial crimes.

Addressing his counterpart directly on the social media platform, Araghchi wrote, 'Stop your crocodile tears @jnbarrot,' indicating his disapproval of the French foreign minister's allegations. He further criticized Barrot by stating, 'Your silence when the US massacred our schoolkids said it all,' drawing attention to the perceived inconsistency in France's stance on human rights issues.

Araghchi's pointed remarks came on the heels of the French foreign minister's accusations against Iran regarding human rights violations, which Tehran has dismissed as interventionist allegations.
